CHOOSING YOUR PHOTOGRAPHY COURSE

We offer several workshops for all levels of photography skills. Take a look at the range of cameras listed below - match your equipment and experience with a corresponding Niwa photography workshop.

COMPACT CAMERAS - STAGE ONE WORKSHOPS

A ‘point-and-shoot’ is a camera which usually takes an adequately exposed and focused picture, by pointing the camera at the subject and shooting the picture by pressing the shutter button. Hence, the term point-and-shoot.

Technically, nearly all modern digital cameras fit that description, so most people use this term to mean strictly point-and-shoot: a camera on which you cannot directly set the primary photographic controls of aperture and shutter-speed. Note that most compact cameras offer some controls, such as ISO speed, flash mode, drive mode and white-balance.

Point-and-shoot digital cameras are generally small, falling into either the ultra-compact or compact size.

Our Stage One courses are designed for beginners with a point and shoot camera. We will run through the basics of using your digital camera including the different shooting modes, how to compose better photographs and basic downloading.

PROSUMER CAMERAS - STAGE TWO WORKSHOPS

A prosumer-camera is an advanced digital camera with complete manual controls and high-quality fixed lenses. The word prosumer is a contraction of professional and consumer, signifying someone in between. An all-in-one camera where the lens is permanently attached to the body (and not interchangeable). Batteries and memory are normally interchangeable. All-in-one is frequently used to describe any non-SLR camera with advanced features such as a prosumer digital camera.

Prosumer cameras have both an LCD and a viewfinder and more accurate framing which is important for advanced users.

Our Stage Two courses are designed for people with some photography knowledge and have already mastered the basics. This course will suit you if you are looking to fine tune your skills and learn more advanced techniques.

DIGITAL SLR CAMERAS - STAGE THREE WORKSHOPS

Digital Single Lens Reflex (DSLR) cameras is the most advanced and have interchangeable lenses and full-manual controls. Since reflex optics and interchangeable lens systems take space, DSLR cameras are among the largest digital cameras. Manufacturers see larger cameras as appealing to advanced users who demand more photographic control.

Our Stage Three courses are designed to suit if you are a competent photographer. Great for keen amateurs wanting to break into professional photography or if you are developing a small photography business. You will be able to understand and use your own digital SLR camera. Help fine tune your wedding photography and portrait photography skills.
